STYLE: ECCO Elevates BIOM with the G5

ECCO Golf, a premium shoe manufacturer who handles every aspect from the leather tanneries to manufacturing in house, is looking to aggressively go into the 2022 fall golf season with a new member of the BIOM lineup:  the BIOM G5.

The BIOM G5 is a fashion-forward cleated shoe that utilizes a wide range of industry-leading technologies that deliver advanced, athletic performance in a premium, progressive and sporty design.

The brand-new model, which takes inspiration from two shoes in the Danish company’s BIOM phenomenon—the ECCO BIOM G3 and the ECCO BIOM H4—is equipped with world-renowned GORE-TEX construction that offers 100% waterproofing, while still allowing the foot to breathe.

At the foundation of the BIOM G5 are two different technologies that look to provide ultimate grip.  Immediately noticeable are the six ZARMA-TOUR spikes, which are combined with innovative hybrid grooves to offer year-round traction and stability.  In tandem with the spikes is ECCO’s MTN GRIP outsole with its three zones providing stability, durability and rotational support.

To ensure that traction does come at the expense of comfort, ECCO has incorporated an updated version of its BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology—which was originally developed by ECCO by scanning more than 2,500 feet—that offers additional support and superior control while enabling the foot to move naturally whilst walking the course.

The BIOM G5 will be available with both laces and the BOA Fit System—the latter of which is a personal favorite since it allows you to tighten and forget without ever worrying about needing to retie once the round’s started.  Regardless of which style you go with, the BIOM G5 will be crafted from ECCO Performance Leather and a sporty mesh.

The BIOM G5 is poised to be a very special golf shoe, as demonstrated by the fact that a limited edition version will be part of the launch. 

Indeed, ECCO ambassador Lydia Ko has designed a custom version of the ECCO BIOM G5 that features cherry blossoms styled onto one side of the shoe, and black ferns on the other, paying homage to her country of birth, South Korea, and the country in which she grew up, New Zealand, respectively.

The BIOM G5 is ECCO’s new flagship cleated model for AW22; the brand-new design has a contemporary, athletic feel, including an eye-catching midsole and color blocks on the side. The BIOM G5 will come in five styles for men and five styles for women:
