Sunday at the President’s Cup was a thriller, especially between these two gentlemen who fought it out till the very end. The pure gamesmanship and high-quality golf these two individuals were playing was exceptionally exciting to take in.

A Great Battle

The match was held by Justin Thomas from the 2nd hole to the 11th hole until the match was all square. The theatrics really began on the 15th hole as they were tied thru the 14th.

Thomas had made a clutch par, and Si Woo Kim followed it up by draining his putt with a familiar “shush” that made Patrick Reed, Captain America.

Kim said:

“I saw that Patrick [Reed] did it before (shushing the crowd at the 2014 Ryder Cup)… And yeah, J.T. gave me a fist pump, and then I had to do it. And I had to make it, and I made it. Then, like, yeah, I had to do something. I think that gives me more energy.”

Intensity Building

Si Woo continued his solid play with a birdie on the following hole (16th), and Thomas responded the following hole with a birdie on 17 to bring the match all square again (tied). The intensity led into the 18th hole when both players hit the fairway. However, both players hit it to about the same distance.

Si Woo Kim drilled his birdie putt, putting pressure on Justin Thomas to halve the match. However, Thomas was unable to deliver, and Kim was the victor!
