Presidents Cup Star Max Homa Names His (Very High) Price to Join LIV Golf

Max Homa, who has had quite the year after winning twice on the PGA Tour last season, defended his title at the Fortinet Championship last week, and was a perfect 4-0-0 in his Presidents Cup debut, would certainly be in high demand on the open market.

Last week, Homa was on the Pardon My Take podcast and joked (we think!) that he was offered $1 billion to join LIV Golf.

His response?

“I said, ‘I’m $2 billion or nothing.’”

Considering that Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Cameron Smith got nine-figure deals to join the rival series—with Mickelson’s allegedly around $140 million—Homa’s talking about adding another zero to get his attention!

Meantime, on Sunday at Quail Hollow, Homa found himself down three after 11 holes to International Team upstart Tom Kim, but he birdied four of the next five holes, and Kim missed a 5-footer for birdie on 18 to give Homa the match 1-up and enter some exclusive company for a Presidents Cup rookie.

Jordan Spieth was a perfect 5-0-0 in the U.S. team’s 17.5-12.5 win over an International Team that sent eight rookies to the tee due to some LIV Golf defections from the likes of Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Louis Oosthuizen, and others.

But the way Homa’s talking, expect the U.S. team to look largely similar for the Ryder Cup next year unless LIV ponies up some huge dough.
