Good Good member Luke Kwon just revealed how he almost died in an accident last month. Many had heard the news just a few weeks ago that he got into a severe accident, and shortly after that, we received word that he had successful brain surgery.

How it Happened

As Luke reveals in the video, his injury was caused by a freak accident at an Oklahoma alumni golf outing. Kwon remembers his head hurting, but nothing in regard to the impact. He doesn’t know why he stuck his head out of the cart, but he did it at the wrong time and struck his head on the steel railing of a very narrow bridge.

Not Remembering Nearly Anything

He even played 7 holes after the accident but doesn’t remember any of the shots. His old coach Jim had to tell him all that had happened. The blow that Luke took on the bridge shows the severity of it due to the impact.

Shockingly enough, after they had reached the final holes of the back 9, he was feeling he wanted to go back to his hotel due to the pain. He drove 40 minutes back to the hotel by himself but doesn’t remember this event either. He went back to rest for a bit, and then his girlfriend came up to meet him.

Pain Intensified

She recommended that he should go to the ER, but he was hesitant because he doesn’t have health insurance. His plan was to wait it out and see if the pain would subside; however, it only kept growing stronger as the night went on. Enough for Luke to say in his words, “Screw it let’s just go to the ER.” So they went on their way to the ER, and Luke was trying to endure the excruciating pain that lead to throwing up three times in front of the ER.

It’s Severe

The doctor and his girlfriend realized the severity of the injury when he was asked if he knew where he was. Kwon responded, “I don’t know, but I switched my website from Paypal to Stripe.” After this, Kwon took an immediate CT scan which revealed ¼ of his brain had internal bleeding.

Kwon had a total of 7 seizures during this time, two of which were serious. He also alluded that due to the severe bleeding that he was having, he only had about 30 to 45 minutes to live. He was then stable enough after a point to get transferred over to another hospital to get the internal bleeding in his brain drained.

Successful Operation

After the success of this operation, Kwon remembers waking up on Tuesday swollen and trying to piece all the events together. The medical staff was surprised by how well he was recovering since he very well could have been paralyzed.

Kwon went on to say toward the end of the video, he feels good, he feels normal to this date. Considering all that went on, it is a miracle that he is functioning as if nothing happened. As he explained, some people have seizures two or three years later after an Epidural Hematoma (internal bleeding inside the skull from breakage) or in other cases, nothing happens, and they just live their lives.

Immensely Grateful

Kwon is beyond thankful to the anonymous donors from his alma mater OU who reduced his hospital bill to just $5,000 in total. In other good news, the doctor cleared him to golf and also to work out. However, Luke is just taking it easy for now, not wanting to exercise for at least 2 months post-surgery. But for now, we have the gift of Luke still being with us and the recent swing video he posted, which looks awesome, given the intense trauma he went through.

Luke is on his way to a full recovery and is beyond thankful with the realization now of how fragile life is. He is right, we don’t know the date, nor the hour we will take our final breath. That’s why it is so important to treat others with respect and show your love for the people around you without fear or shame.

Update from a few minutes ago: Luke Kwon set up a gofundme page because he underestimated the cost of his medical bills. If you would like to help Luke on his road to recovery, here is the link to it.
