Inside the Numbers: Dustin Johnson’s $38 Million LIV Season
After winning the LIV Golf Team Championship at Doral in Miami over the weekend, Dustin Johnson wrapped up the richest season on the course in the history of the sport.
Johnson split the $16 million winners’ share of the purse on Sunday four ways with his 4 Aces teammates, putting him at $17.6 million and change in course winnings. Add to that an $18 million bonus for winning the individual championship after the first seven events, and his total for eight tournaments was a shade over $35.6 million.
Dustin Johnson made over $35 million in prize money since joining LIV Golf in June…in addition to the $100 million+ guaranteed he got for signing.
In related news, Dustin Johnson is absurdly rich.

Let’s see how that stacks up to some historical numbers:
- Including an $18 million bonus for winning the FedEx Cup, Rory McIlroy pocketed around $26 million this year on the PGA Tour.
- Scottie Scheffler’s on-course winnings of $14 million this year was a PGA Tour record, and Johnson beat that total by over $3 million.
- Johnson’s all-time earnings on the PGA Tour were around $75 million over a 15-year career. He made nearly half that in eight tournaments in 2022.
- The $35 million earned by Johnson on the LIV Tour this year would put him 32nd all-time on the PGA Tour money list, just ahead of Jon Rahm’s $35.5 million.

This doesn’t even account for Johnson’s signing bonus when he joined LIV, which was reported to be in nine figures. He also lost some lucrative sponsorships, but we’re pretty sure that DJ will be okay.
