Jim Nantz Reveals How Long He Plans To Commentate At The Masters

What would the Masters be without the famous words of broadcaster Jim Nantz: “Hello friends…”

With the CBS Sports broadcaster revealing his plans to make this NCAA Final Four his last, that leaves us to wonder how much longer Nantz plans to keep his other high-profile jobs: lead NFL play-by-play man for CBS and, of course, host of the Masters on the network.

On The Dan Patrick Show, Nantz shared his thoughts about the Masters gig and when he would be comfortable letting it go.

Nantz said:

“I would like to do it [commentate on the Masters] 51 times, as bizarre as that sounds. My 51st Masters would be the 100th playing of the Masters. And I’d like to be there to see the end of the first century. That’s just a little goal I have in the back of my head. I’m through 37 now, so 14 to go hopefully.”

So while he’s hanging up the microphone for college basketball, Nantz still isn’t planning on calling it quits any time soon. He was 26 when he announced his first Masters in 1986, so No. 51 for him would be in 2036 at age 77.
