There’s no denying that the Australian native has been on top of his game. Smith started the year out winning the Tournament of Champions, continuing his solid play by winning the Players Championship and the Open Championship.

He also picked up a win at LIV Chicago and now another win at the Australian PGA Championship that will garner him a few world ranking points.

Cameron started the final round with a three-shot lead but couldn’t quite find his rhythm thru 11 holes as he was even par for the day and shared the lead with two other players. However, Smith did not despair and battled through, birding 3 of the next five holes, leading to a 3-shot victory.

Smith is projected to pick up ten world ranking points with his preserving win, which will put him 100 points within World #1, Rory McIlroy. Though it will be hard for him long term, especially if and when a judge will rule on whether LIV golfers will be allowed to play for World Ranking Points next year on the DP World Tour.

Nonetheless, Smith will always be at a disadvantage to keep a solid world ranking position if things remain the same due to the large discrepancy of points between the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
