PGA TOUR’s Jay Monahan Has Surfaced – Coming Back to Work
Jay Monahan has been missing since a “medical emergency” last month. Today, he released his first statement since taking a leave of absence earlier this summer.

Following the merger announcement between the PIF, LIV Golf and the PGA and DP World Tours, Monahan was reported to be experiencing health issues. As of June 13th, PGA TOUR COO Ron Price and president Tyler Dennis have stepped in during his absence.
The medical condition was undisclosed – but as he is prepared to return to work on July 17th – has put him out for over a month.

Monahan is set to resume his duties and steer the PGA TOUR ship through the merger. Now that litigation between parties has been dropped, his focus will remain on keeping the PGA TOUR the most competitive place to play golf, working with the PIF to incorporate LIV Golf rather than to be bulldozed by it.
His statement addressed the last two ‘gruelling years’ and that Monahan ‘experienced that toll personally’. Monahan faced intense scrutiny as the merger showcased hypocrisy on his part. He then had a difficult meeting with the PGA TOUR players; most of whom had been kept out of the loop throughout the talks with the PIF and Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
He thanked his medical team and his family, and reported that his health has dramatically improved.
It must be noted that Monahan was invited to testify on July 11th before the US Senate Subcommittee on Investigations.
The PGA TOUR is set to remain as is going forward, with the new entity (allegedly being named NewCo, for now) to organize their own professional events; perhaps retaining aspects of LIV Golf in its current form.
