Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons, is now venturing into the world of owning a professional golf team, which will compete in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL.

Blank will own the Atlanta franchise of the TGL, ESPN reported yesterday. The TGL will be made up of professional golfers playing on a simulator in Palm Beach, Florida, and starts in January.

Several PGA Tour Professionals, including Woods, McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, and Max Homa, among others, have already committed to playing in the league. Blank won’t have a say in who joins the team that he will own, but he is allowed to make suggestions on who they would like.

Blank owns the Falcons in the NFL, and the PGA Tour Superstore, as well as the Atlanta United in the MLS. He also co-founded Home Depot.

Blank commented on the TGL team he will own:

“We’re into golf significantly now with PGA Tour Superstore, so that’s the prime motivation. We have a great relationship with the tour itself. They would probably tell you we’re one of the best partners, and we would say they are a great partner to us as well. So, this is a way to extend the game of golf.”

Blank invested in Tomorrow Sports, which is the parent company of TGL, and told ESPN that he approached the league so he could become involved:

“We believe in what Tomorrow Sports is going to do in the world of golf.”

There are going to be six planned teams, and Blank’s Atlanta franchise is the third, following a Los Angeles team and a Boston team.
