When most golfers “age out” of the PGA Tour, the Champions Tour awaits. Whether that will be the case for current world’s No. 1 Scottie Scheffler remains to be seen, but it appears that he has a budding second career as a pickleball player.

The tennis-like sport has exploded in popularity among all age groups in recent years, and there’s even a pro pickleball circuit.

The Carvana PPA Tour, as it’s known, hosted a celebrity pro-am this week featuring its top-ranked men’s and women’s players.

The contest pitted Scheffler and women’s No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters against former tennis pro John Isner and men’s No. 1 Ben Johns.

That’s where things got fun. Scheffler found himself in a rally with Johns—and the 2022 Masters champion came out on top.

Also participating in the event were former NBA stars Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd, former players for the Dallas Mavericks, which is where this event was held (Scheffler is also a native of Texas).

In this event last year, Scheffler played with Jordan Spieth, who is also a self-described pickleball aficionado.

Year-round golf is a perk of living in Florida, where Chris moved from his native New York shortly after graduating from college. Chris has played some famous courses in the state, including Bay Hill in Orlando and Innisbrook in the Tampa Bay area, and next on his to-do list is the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass to take a crack at the famous island hole.
