Xander Schauffle Moves to New Apparel Partner
While there have been numerous rumors about Nike potentially exiting golfing apparel, largely fueled by Tiger Woods’ contract coming to term at the end of 2023, the first apparel sponsor news is actually coming from a different company: adidas golf.

Xander arguably became the face for adidas Golf following DJ’s exit almost a year ago, but it seems that the pairing have decided to modify their relationship as Xander recently announced a multi-year contract with DESCENTE for their golf wear, training wear, and accessories.
For those unfamiliar with DESCENTE, you may have unknowingly seen them during the cold months or, more likely on the ski mountain. DESCENTE, founded in 1935, is a Japanese sports apparel brand that launched a golf wear lineup in 2015. It, however, seems that DESCENTE is very interest in growing its market share as other smaller competitors, like Malbon—who recently partnered with Jason Day—and Greyson, look to establish themselves (perhaps in advance of Nike’s exit).

Xander will be joining 2016 Masters Champion Danny Willett, who has been wearing DESCENTE since 2017, as well as LPGA golfer Danielle Kang and LPGA and LET golfer Olivia Cowan.

Notably, Xander’s social media pages are stilling listing adidas Golf as a brand partner, and he was spotted wearing their shoes during yesterday’s first round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions. It, therefore, appears that Xander may be maintaining his relationship with adidas, but instead limiting it to just footwear.
Current notable adidas golfers include Ludvig Aberg and Rose Zhang, who both partnered with the brand during 2023, which leads me to believe that adidas isn’t exiting the golf apparel space anytime soon.
