Brandel Chamblee Not Sympathetic Towards LIV Golf Members Complaining About Split
On Wednesday, many of the LIV Golf contingent echoed statements made by Rory McIlroy about men’s pro golf not being sustainable in its current form – with all of the top stars only playing against each other four times a year.
Bryson DeChambeau said before LIV’s event in Miami this weekend:
“If we don’t have fans, we don’t have golf. That’s the most important thing as of right now — the low-hanging fruit There’s got to be a way to come together. And it needs to happen fast. It’s not a two-year thing. Like it needs to happen quicker rather than later just for the good of the sport. Too many people are losing interest.”
Unsurprisingly, Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee said in an interview with Golfweek that he’s not showing much sympathy toward the LIV golfers.

Chamblee said:
“Well, I would say it is only looking out for yourself and not the betterment of the game. That’s what’s going on in a lot of corners in professional golf.”
“Nobody could win like Arnold Palmer. Very few could. But that doesn’t mean that you couldn’t behave like Arnold Palmer. You leave the game a little bit better than you found it. But I think what we’re seeing now because of obnoxious greed, we’re seeing players that are going to leave the game not a little bit worse but substantially worse than they found it.”
⛳ Brandel Chamblee just now on the NBC Sports/Golf Channel pre-Masters teleconference asked about the PGA Tour and LIV Golf coming together:
He said he’s not optimistic of a merger EVER and questioned whether any agreement could pass Department of Justice scrutiny.

Next week’s Masters will see 13 LIV Golf members competing in it. So far this year, TV viewership for both LIV and large PGA Tour events have been substantially down year over year.
