DENIED: Rory McIlroy’s Team Confirms LIV Golf Rumors are False

Rory McIlroy will be staying put with the PGA Tour after rumors of a mind-blowing $850 million move to LIV Golf have circulated following The Masters Tournament.

After Sunday’s final round at Augusta National Golf Club, whichsaw Scottie Scheffler win his second Green Jacket, rumors of a potential defection to LIV by McIlroy shocked the golf world.

At a figure of $850 million, it would be the largest sum that LIV Golf paid for a player, with the largest currently standing at Jon Rahm, who signed a rumored $350 million fee late last year.

However, members close to McIlroy say that the rumors of his departure are unequivocally false.

McIlroy’s manager, Sean O’Flaherty, commented in an emailed statement to the Irish Independent:

“Fake news. Zero truth.”

It would be extremely out-of-character for McIlroy to make the jump. It would cost him relationships with people like Tiger Woods, and would likely lead to the end of the already-delayed TGL simulator league.
