TRENDING: SuperStroke Acquires Lamkin Grips
You would think, with the boom that golfing is experiencing right now, that all golf-related companies, especially those that are equipment-related, are experiencing record-breaking profits. Today’s unexpected announcement, however, demonstrates just the opposite.

After nearly 100 years of being in business, Lamkin Grips announced this morning that it has been purchased by SuperStroke.
SuperStroke CEO Dean Dingman:
“It is with pride and great gratitude that we announce Lamkin, a golf club grip brand with a 100-year history of breakthrough design and trusted products, is now a part of the SuperStroke brand. We have always had the utmost respect for how the Lamkin family has put the needs and benefits of the golfer first in their grip designs. If there is a grip company that is most aligned with SuperStroke’s commitment to uncompromised research, design, and development to put the most useful performance tools in the hands of golfers, Lamkin has been that brand. It is an honor to bring Lamkin’s wealth of product innovation into the SuperStroke family.”

The announcement does not specify whether Lamkin and SuperStroke will remain separate entities with unique catalogs, but that seems likely given Lamkin’s longstanding reputation and name recognition. What is, however, clear is that Bob Lamkin will continue to serve as a board member and remain involved in future business operations.
While this was certainly not what I expected when I woke up this morning, what will be interesting is how this acquisition affects each company’s offerings and brand partnerships going forward.
