Michael Block Back in the Spotlight – Bags Interview Slot for PGA Championship
It’s PGA Championship week at Valhalla, and that gives us a reason to cast our minds back to 2023 at Oak Hill, where one Michael Block became a name that many would remember for at least a couple of weeks.
Block stole the show, bursting into contention with some solid play and being mic’d up during his third round to give us an insight into how it feels being a PGA Professional among the world’s best.
“Blockie” was paired with Rory McIlroy on the final day in 2023, where he lived up to expectations, carrying the weight of PGA professionals across the world on his shoulders, firing a slam dunk ace on the 15th hole on Sunday before a clutch up and down 18, the 72nd hole, to secure a top 15 finish and guarantee his spot in the 2024 field.
The year has come thick and fast with multiple developments in the sport, a circumstance we could not have predicted 12 months ago. Michael Block is ready to stand in the spotlight once again, as the interview schedule for 2024 has been released, and Block sits amongst the world’s best players.

Tiger, Rory, Spieth, Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, JT, Xander, Max Homa, and then Michael Block make up the schedule on Tuesday.
Reviews are mixed; Wyndham Clark isn’t on the setlist, nor is Phil Mickelson, as his media hiatus continues. Block stole his fifteen minutes of fame after the tournament ended last year, appearing on podcasts and multiple interviews, where he took criticism for comparing his game to the best in the world – and that he’d be world-class with someone like Rory McIlroy’s length. Personally, I think the comment was justified; he had just finished in the top 15 of the tournament despite an average driving distance 40 yards shorter than Rory.
Valhalla is a different beast, and Blockie will be under the microscope as he followed his PGA Championship with a string of sponsor exemptions to PGA Tour events, where he missed the cut consecutively.
