DROPPED: Scottie Scheffler Case Likely to Be Dismissed

Scottie Scheffler’s charges that landed him in a Louisville, Kentucky jail before his second round of the PGA Championship a few weeks ago are likely to be dismissed.

Tomorrow, Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell will address the charges on Wednesday. WDRB, a local news outlet, reported that the move is “a signal that the matter is likely to be dismissed.”

O’Connell will officially make a statement on the case at 1 p.m. local time. Scheffler will not be present but will be represented by Steve Romines, who has been the no. 1 golfer in the world’s attorney since the start of this matter a few weeks ago.

Scheffler was detained and arrested on Friday of the PGA Championship after he attempted to enter Valhalla Golf Club before his 10:08 a.m. tee time. He was accused of four crimes, one of which was a felony.

However, the felony charge, which was a 2nd-degree Assault of a Police Officer, was put into question last week after the Lousiville Metro PD released two new bits of footage of the entire case. Scheffler’s arresting officer claimed the golfer dragged him after failing to obey traffic commands. Video of the incident seems to show none of this happening:

The release of the video may be the reason for the speculation that the charges will be dropped.
