Tiger Woods Makes Decision on Ryder Cup Captaincy

Tiger Woods will not be the Captain for Team USA at the Ryder Cup next year at Bethpage Black, according to a new report.

Woods was on a shortlist of names who could lead the Americans as they attempt to win back the Cup after losing it to the Europeans in Italy last year. Many fans expected Woods, with his cutthroat competitive nature and natural bond with many U.S. players, to dive after the chance to be the captain.

It seems he will not do so, at least not in 2025.

The Telegraph reported this morning that Woods turned down an offer to captain the U.S. team at next year’s Ryder Cup.

He said, according to the article, that he would not be able to handle the demands and time commitments that the captaincy requires. This mostly comes from him being a proponent of the talks the PGA TOUR is having with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the lead financier of LIV Golf.

Woods has served as assistant captain in past Ryder Cups, and hopefully, he will eventually accept the promotion to captain.
