PGA TOUR Veteran Admits Players Have Drank Alcohol During Rounds

A veteran on the PGA TOUR admitted recently that he has seen players drink alcohol during rounds, but only on a handful of occasions.

Consumption of alcohol by players during rounds is against PGA TOUR rules, but it has not stopped a few from drowning their sorrows as they play horrible golf.

Michael Kim, an eight-year vet of the TOUR and one-time winner, said he has seen two professionals drink during their rounds throughout his career. He refused to say which players have done so:

Additionally, they were not doing it to loosen themselves up, as many of us do during rounds with friends. They were doing it in hopes of forgetting how they played that day.

It probably does not happen too much, especially as it is likely difficult to pull off. Not too many players go out with a water bottle full of vodka just in case they play horribly that day; that wouldn’t be the mentality to take into a round of golf.

Nevertheless, sometimes, and I think we all know this, a few beers or transfusions will help us forget about the awful performance we had. After all, many of us reading this won’t ever play for more than a few hundred bucks. It’s all about having fun.

Inspired by the likes of Woods, Palmer, McIlroy, and Koepka, Joey plays over 100 times a year in the South Central Pennsylvania area. When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
