COBRA Golf Launches Three New KING BLACK Edition Irons
COBRA Golf announced it is bringing three new models to market today, all coated in an awesome Diamonized Black Metal finish for one of the coolest looks available.
The irons are the KING Black Edition TOUR, KING Black Edition CB, and KING Black Edition MB, all with certain features and styles catered to assisting a player’s needs out on the course.
The irons are constructed from 1025 carbon steel with five forging strikes for unmatched soft feel and precise shaping.
They are manufactured with a distinct forging process that COBRA details:
“The forging process begins by heating carbon steel billets to 1200-degree Celsius. The billets are then Rough Forged three times (steps 1-3), a process in which the metal is bent and forged to form the rough shaping of an iron head. Step Four involves applying 1,200 tons of pressure at 800 degrees Celsius to each rough clubhead, refining the shapes, and placing detail lines and logos. During the final fifth step, each iron head is subjected to 2000 tons of pressure at 700 degrees Celsius, forming an extremely uniform grain structure. After cooling, each clubhead is polished and made ready for the faces and grooves to be precision milled using a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine.“
KING Black Edition Tour ($1,399/7-piece set)
Catered for TOUR players like Rickie Fowler, the KING Black Edition Tour blends a soft feel with enhanced distance and forgiveness.
Interestingly, these have a thicker sole, more offset, and are more forgiving than the CB and MB options.
Weight is repositioned from the high center to the lower center and heel and toe areas of the club head for better launch conditions and more forgiveness on off-centered hits.

COBRA says the following options are stock for the Tour irons, and gives additional details on handedness:
“The TOUR irons are available in 3i-GW (RH/LH), with the stock set offered in 4-PW in RH only. LH sets are available in custom. Limited edition all-black Lamkin Crossline grip and limited edition KBS $-Taper steel shafts with black PVD finish in Stiff flex come standard. Chrome finish available through custom order.”
KING Black Edition CB and MB ($1,299/7-piece set)
Cavity Back and Muscle Back irons will offer more forgiveness than the TOUR set, and the Five-Step Forging Process allows the CG locations to be perfectly centered.
These irons are the most compact shapes in the KING lineup, and feature thin toplines, minimal offset, and thinner soles, so they’re catered to better players.
However, the CB irons possess a cavity-back shape that is more forgiving and can be mixed with the Muscle Backs, as a mixed set could be more preferable to your eye.

Personally, I prefer a players iron in short irons, and a thicker topline on the longer irons, which is why I play the T100S 7-PW and the T200 4-6.
The KING Black Edition irons are available today.
