After being removed from the broadcast booth by NBC at the end of 2023, Paul Azinger will be heading back to that network – via an indirect method – in 2025.

Azinger will technically be an employee of PGA Tour Entertainment, which oversees the coverage for PGA Tour Champions. Azinger told Golfweek that he will take part in 10 to 12 broadcasts over the course of 2025, appearing on NBC-owned Golf Channel.

Azinger told Golfweek in an interview this week:

“It’s not like a full-time gig or anything, which I don’t want, but to be able to go in there and part-time some golf, some really great golf, it’ll be kind of fun. I’ll just be as candid as I can and enjoy it.”

Azinger, Peter Jacobsen, and John Cook will serve as analysts for the tour, replacing Lanny Wadkins, who retired following this past weekend’s Charles Schwab Championship.

Azinger was critical of NBC on his way out and also had called the PGA Tour a feeder tour for LIV Golf.

The 1993 PGA Championship winner began his broadcasting career later in the ‘90s while he was recovering from a bout with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma before he resumed his playing career. After turning 50, the now 64-year-old only played four events on the PGA Tour Champions circuit before entering broadcasting full-time.

Chris has worked in sports journalism for nearly 20 years and also loves the game of golf, even though it often doesn't love him back. Year-round golf is a perk of living in Florida, where Chris moved from his native New York shortly after graduating from college. Chris has played some famous courses in the state, including Bay Hill in Orlando and Innisbrook in the Tampa Bay area, and next on his to-do list is the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass to take a crack at the famous island hole.
