Billy Horschel Snubs LIV Golf in Latest Dig at PGA TOUR rival
Billy Horschel is the only American golfer inside the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings to be playing in this week’s DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Prior to the tournament starting, he said he wished that wasn’t the case.
Horschel said in a pre-tournament news conference:
“Yeah, I do use the words ‘we’ and ‘theirs,’ and sometimes I put myself in that world of the member of the DP World Tour. But listen, I support this tour. I love this tour. I think the world of this tour. But at the same time, I don’t support this tour 20-plus events out of the year.”
Overall, Horschel thinks so highly of the tour that he puts it above LIV Golf in the sport’s pecking order.
Billy Horschel argues in Dubai that the DP World Tour is the “second best tour in the world” in terms of talent and quality.
Quite the contrast from Thomas Pieters, who said earlier this year that the standard on LIV is “10 times better.”https://t.co/yAihJaL6OY

“I think it’s honestly — and quality and talent-wise, I think it’s the second-best tour in the world, and you see it on a regular basis.”
Horschel had a career renaissance in 2024 after he missed the FedEx Cup playoffs last year. The native Floridian had one win, a runner-up, and made the Tour Championship.
On the DP World Tour, he won the BMW PGA Championship for a second time, which qualified him for this week’s series championship.
Other notables in the field from the PGA Tour include Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, and Robert MacIntyre.
From LIV Golf, Tyrrell Hatton and Joaquin Niemann qualified due to winning DPWT events earlier this season. Jon Rahm was eligible to compete but did not enter.
