BREAKING: Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red Launches First Shoe

Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red Brand is launching its first-ever shoe, which was totally inspired by the wants and needs of the 15-time Major Champion.

The Pioneer Express is the name of the first shoe under Woods’ brand following his departure from Nike earlier this year. It pays homage to classic silhouettes that have inspired generations of footwear models from other manufacturers. Sun Day Red is the latest to develop a shoe with the same aesthetic. 

The shoe will feature premium materials, starting with a full-grain leather upper complemented with a French cord detail and a signature Tiger Stripe pattern pressed into the heel. 

The shoe is not just a pretty-looking face, either. Woods has carefully and meticulously looked after every detail of the Pioneer Express, aiming to provide complete support with supreme functionality. 

If consumers feel it is worth the price tag, it is a project that could cause some disruption amongst other brands. 

Before Woods had even departed from Nike, he was spotted wearing less athletic and dressier shoes. Woods was consistently seen in his signature shoes for the brand over the years. However, a long history of body ailments from injuries throughout his career forced him to look for something with additional support structure. 

He was seen wearing FootJoy’s Premiere Series frequently. When he departed from Nike and started Sun Day Red, it seemed like a sure thing the brand would launch a shoe Woods hoped would provide plenty of help for his back and leg issues.

Sun Day Red also took their time developing the shoe as the Pioneer Express model that is being released is one of nearly twenty prototypes the brand designed during development.

The Design highlights include:

• The footwear product creation team at Sun Day Red married the best features from athletic performance footwear and classic, timeless footwear to create the Pioneer Cypress
• The Pioneer Cypress pays homage to a more heritage classic silhouette that golf community has fully embraced but added a modern twist with the execution of the pattern and styling.
• A premium full grain leather upper pattern that is accented by a French cord detail that frames in the micro-perf quarter panel and a signature Tiger Stripe deboss pattern in the heel counter of the shoe.
• The Pioneer Cypress has some distinct features that truly make this an original
• Tiger’s signature is hidden in the sock liner along with two motivational expressions that embody his persona “Do the work” and “Put in the time.”
• The spike design provides a tiger-like claw effect in the ground.  Three concentric circles around each hexagonal-shaped lug which leans into the idea of the rule of thirds, four claw marks in the front and one in the heel mimic a tiger’s footprint.
• The shoes feature metal top eyelets with custom branding SUN DAY RED

For Performance:

• Tiger worked tirelessly to fine tune the performance of this product. One of the key differentiators was Tiger’s insistence on getting lower to the ground to have as much stability, control and feel for both powerful drives and surgical putts.
• One of the primary desires for Tiger was to ensure that this product had superior comfort and while walking the course. Utilizing modern shoemaking manufacturing process, the product creation team along with Tiger exceeded his expectations.
• The Pioneer Cypress comes with two different sock liners-one with a massage footbed (inspired by a coral reef because of Tiger’s love of diving and spearfishing) as well as a flat sock liner giving the user a choice to customize their footwear.
• Known for keeping his shoelaces extremely tight, Tiger inspired the team to equip the Pioneer Cypress with waxed polyester blend laces ensuring they stay tightly tied throughout the round removing distraction from the equation.
• The Pioneer Cypress has a 2-year waterproof warranty
• There is no break-in period required when wearing the Pioneer Cypress as a lot of work in the pattern and construction were made to avoid any irritation in wearing the show out of the box
• And last but certainly not least, Tiger was adamant that while he didn’t want to slip on aggressive swings, he wanted to ensure that the tread plate would be friendly to the idea of greens preservation

Price, Colors, and Release Date

The Pioneer Express retails for $250 and comes in five colorways: Black/Silver, White/Silver, and Grey/Navy, as well as two limited colors that will be priced at $275 and will be available in Black/Red and White/Red.
