SLX Hybrid Mini Review: Tiny Launch Monitor, Tiny Price
Alright, let’s talk about the SLX Hybrid Mini Launch Monitor from Swing Logix.
We’ve been testing a bunch of different launch monitors lately, trying to find that perfect balance of accuracy, portability, and price. And honestly, this little device surprised us.
But, is it accurate…or a waste of $200?

The Size
First things first—this thing is small and portable. Like, it “fits in your pocket portable.”
The SLX Hybrid Mini is not much larger than the length and width of a standard credit card. So if you’re a golfer who wants to dial in range numbers but doesn’t want to lug around some massive piece of tech, the size of the SLX could be a dream.
It’s lightweight, easy to set up, fits in your pocket, and connects quickly to your phone via bluetooth. We had it up and running in minutes.

Accuracy
In our recent video we tested the SLX both indoors against the side against the Foresight GC3 and outdoors on the range and the golf course.
The SLX measures ball speed and club speed and uses an algorithm to calculate other metrics like launch angle, spin rate, carry distance, and total distance.
Overall we found the accuracy of the SLX Hybrid Mini to be a bit hot and cold. On some shots, the speed and carry numbers we saw were surprisingly accurate, while others seemed confusingly off the mark.

Usability
One thing I love about the SLX Hybrid Mini is the ease of use. The app is intuitive, with a clean interface that lets you see your data in real time.
Another thing worth mentioning is that it works both indoors and outdoors, which is a huge plus. Some of these budget-friendly monitors struggle when you take them inside, but the SLX does a solid job tracking shots in a simulator setup. It’s not perfect—indoor spin and other numbers can be a little off—but overall, it holds up really well.
The battery life is another win. You can get about 10 hours of use on a full charge, meaning you’re set for multiple range sessions before needing to plug it in. And since it charges via USB-C, you can just throw it on any standard charger when you’re done.

The Simulator
The SLX comes with a built in golf simulator and while it gives you the ability to play golf tee to green on fictitious golf courses, the graphics are not some of the best (compared to other launch monitors like the Rapsodo MLM2PRO and Square Golf).
You get fairways, greens, and hazards but you can see clearly from the photo below that they are not the most realistic graphics.
But again, how much can we really expect from a super-budget golf launch monitor that costs less than $200?!

The App
The SLX Connect app is surprisingly robust…especially for a FREE app!

Within the app you get access to additional launch monitor metrics as well as the aforementioned simulator, and the ability to connect to third party simulation programs like E6.
Final Thoughts
So, who is the SLX Hybrid Mini best for?
If you’re a golfer who wants basic launch monitor data such as ball and club speed without spending thousands of dollars, the SLX is a fantastic option.
Additionally, if you’re looking to purchase an on-course GPS unit the SLX Hybrid Mini is worth a look because it provides GPS for over 40,000 golf courses while also doubling as a basic launch monitor.
Obviously the SLX is not going to replace a high-end monitor for a teaching pro or club fitter, but for the average golfer looking to improve , then it’s a good place to start for the small investment.
Where to Buy it
PlayBetter.com carries the SLX Hybrid Mini for $199.99.
