UK Mail Gets Special Postmarking for Rory McIlroy’s Career Grand Slam
The mail in the United Kingdom is going to look a little bit different this week, as it will take a few days to congratulate Rory McIlroy on the completion of the Career Grand Slam.
McIlroy won the 89th Masters Tournament this past weekend, becoming the sixth golfer to win all four Major Championships in the Modern Era. It took 11 years for the Northern Irishman to complete the feat, as The Masters proved to be his toughest test.
Now, the UK is paying its respects to McIlroy for completing this massive accomplishment by postmarking all mail from April 15 to April 17 with a special message:
“Congratulations, Rory McIlroy, on completing your career Grand Slam!”
This is incredible — every piece of mail in the UK from April 15-17 has been stamped with a special congratulatory message for Rory.

McIlroy joins a class of Nicklaus, Player, Sarazen, Jones, and Hogan to have won the Career Grand Slam. He is the first player to do it in 25 years, as Tiger Woods completed the feat at St. Andrews and The Open Championship back in 2000.
Woods had a special message for McIlroy as he won The Masters on Sunday:
Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory. Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you’re a part of history. Proud of you!
