LIV Golf Tour
BREAKING: Wesley Bryan Suspended from PGA Tour
Earlier today, news broke that YouTube creator Grant Horvat was being extended an invitation, likely by way of an event sponsorship, to participate in the Barracuda Championship, hosted by Tahoe Mountain Club and scheduled to take place later this summer (July 14th to 20th).
I got invited to play a PGA Tour event. Truly on the fence, should I play?

The announcement was met with mixed results; some praised Grant and encouraged him to participate (even if just to see how he handles competing alongside PGA Tour players, rather than taking on the course a day or so after an event concludes), while others were upset that, arguably, more deserving golfers who’ve been grinding through Monday qualifiers were being deprived of an opportunity.
Setting aside whether Grant should or shouldn’t compete, what was interesting about the invitation is that the PGA Tour allowed it to be extended in the first place. Indeed, just a few weeks ago, Grant not only participated alongside LIV Golfers but also hosted LIV Golf’s inaugural “The Duel” video on his YouTube channel—the same event that the PGA Tour allegedly threatened to suspend and/or fine creators for participating in.
But what added some real high-octane fuel to the fire was that the PGA Tour also announced that it would suspend PGA Tour member and YouTube creator Wesley Bryan for, you won’t believe this, participating in “The Duel.”
Breaking:
I spoke with Wesley Bryan this morning and confirmed that he has been suspended for participating in the LIV Duels event in Miami.
I asked Wesley about his time on tour, whether he regrets playing the event, and what’s next. https://t.co/QwOd3VJbDQ

So to recap, while one YouTuber has been extended an invitation to play in a future PGA Tour event, another is being suspended from the PGA Tour for doing the exact same thing.
This illogical inconsistency seems to be standard operating procedure for PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, who previously invoked the 9/11 terrorist attacks to smear LIV, but—barely a year later—was willing to cozy up and reach a secret agreement with LIV to unite the rival leagues.
The decision to suspend Wesley has, unsurprisingly, garnered more attention than Grant’s announcement. Speaking of which, Grant has—at the risk of losing his event invite—announced his support for Wesley.

While I think many of us hoped that the Masters would help remind us that golf is best when it’s best, regardless of where they compete outside the Majors, all on the same course, it seems that this tit-for-tat nonsense is only stoking the fires that keep the leagues apart.
