Amazon Enters the Golf Ball Space with Core Soft at a Crazy Price

Amazon has entered the golf ball space with its own budget offering that undercuts other mass-market offerings like the Kirkland Signature from Costco.

The ball is being launched under Amazon’s “Basics” umbrella, which also manufactures everything from clothes to power cords to batteries. There truly is no limit to what Amazon will get its business involved in.

This is Amazon’s first foray into manufacturing its own golf equipment; the platform has been a good place to pick up affordable goods, as everything from equipment to apparel has been available.

The Amazon Core Soft golf ball is priced at just $14.40 per dozen, so it is unbelievably priced and readily available. Here are some of the features.

Construction

The Amazon Core Soft features a two-piece design with a low-compression core for better activation at lower swing speeds, likely under 100 MPH. Its ionomer cover is different than the traditional urethane offerings of most balls on the market.

You should expect less greenside spin compared to premium balls, but most players this ball is suited for shouldn’t worry about it anyway.

Performance

Amazon claims the Core Soft ball is optimized for “exceptional distance and straight flight path.” Be wary of these claims; the ball will not fly straighter itself. That will come from a better swing, better path, and better contact.

However, its 338 dimple design will improve aerodynamics.

The ball also comes with an included alignment aid and is available in yellow for better visibility.

Who Produces the Amazon Core Soft Ball?

The ball is manufactured by SM Global, which is the same company that builds the Costco Kirkland Signature ball.

Over the years, Costco has had a great reputation for offering affordable balls; it fits the bill for those with tighter budgets or who just want to avoid spending a premium amount on balls.
