FootJoy’s New 2026 Shoes Are Here — And They’re a Big Deal

FootJoy has officially pulled back the curtain on its new 2026 footwear, and this isn’t just a minor refresh. Two of its most important models — the Pro/SL and the Premiere Series — have been reimagined and are now being worn by players on Tour.

When Tour players put new shoes into play, it’s a sort-of final “stamp of approval” after years of testing, feedback, and refinement.

And according to FootJoy, this latest generation has officially passed that test.

Why Tour Validation Matters

FootJoy calls this stage “Tour Validation”, and it’s essentially the proving ground. The shoes that make it here aren’t concepts — they’re finished products trusted by the best players in the world.

As FootJoy President Chris Lindner puts it:

“Our sole focus is to bring performance innovation to the game of golf.”

That mindset shows up clearly in how these shoes were developed.

The Tour Testing Timeline

The first prototypes reached Tour players in August 2024 at East Lake, and from there, feedback checkpoints happened at some of the biggest events of the year:

  • Sahith Theegala and Adam Scott tested early versions
  • Will Zalatoris and Keith Mitchell put the Premiere Series through practice rounds
  • Multiple rounds of updated prototypes were tested throughout 2025

The reactions say it all.

“The performance is a 12 out of 10. I feel like I’m at a competitive disadvantage if I’m not wearing these.”
— Will Zalatoris

By late 2025, players like Justin Thomas, Sahith Theegala, and Davis Riley were completing final fittings — and immediately putting the shoes into play.

That’s when FootJoy knew they were ready.

Inside the FJ Performance Lab

Much of this innovation happens inside the FJ Performance Lab, located alongside the Titleist Performance Institute.

Here’s what that looks like behind the scenes:

  • Hundreds of thousands of data points captured per shoe
  • Millions of data points collected annually
  • Testing across multiple turf types and soil conditions
  • Extensive wear testing with golfers of all skill levels

FootJoy’s engineers don’t just test how a shoe feels — they measure how it performs.

“Small details make a big difference. If there’s a performance edge there, we’ll find it.”
— Dr. John Swigart

What’s New for 2026?

The Premiere Series

The updated Premiere Series sets the standard for Tour-level performance. It blends improved comfort and traction while maintaining the locked-in stability preferred by the world’s best players.

The Pro/SL (10-Year Anniversary Update)

The Pro/SL turns 10 this year, and FootJoy marked the milestone with a full reinvention:

  • 30% lighter overall
  • Improved comfort
  • All-new traction pattern
  • More athletic fit

It’s still unmistakably Pro/SL — just faster, lighter, and more modern.

When Can Golfers Get Them?

Following successful adoption on Tour, FootJoy plans to roll these models out to golfers worldwide. Some FJ FitLab fitting experiences and select retail locations are already featuring the new shoes, with broader availability coming soon.

If history is any indicator, these will be some of the most talked-about golf shoes of the year.
