Brandt Snedeker Finished for PGA TOUR Season
While many players have broken out and performed extremely well on the PGA TOUR this season, just as many others have lost the year due to injury. Now, yet another player is taking time off because of injury.
Brandt Snedeker announced on social media Wednesday that he would be forced to miss the rest of the season due to injury. Snedeker hadn’t played in a tournament since June and was forced to miss the Open Championship as well as the PGA Championship. Previously, Brandt had hoped to finish off the PGA season but his injury seems to be too much to overcome.
A lot of Snedeker’s problems have come from upper body issues. At first, the injury was described as a rib problem that prevented him from swinging the club comfortably. Now the injury is being described as a sternum issue that makes it impossible for Snedeker to play the game effictively or comfortably.

On a possible return date, Snedeker didn’t say anything more specific than that he will be out for the remainder of this current season. “My medical team and I are looking into every option to get me back to playing as soon as possible,” Snedeker said.
“It pains me not to be out there on Tour competing, but at this time, my health needs to be my priority.”
It is an unfortunate time for Snedeker to fall victim to this injury as he was having a pretty solid year. Further, Snedeker is currently ranked 15th on the U.S. points list, meaning he had a chance at his second career FedExCup. This ranking also would have made him an ideal candidate to fill out the U.S. President’s Cup roster later in the season.
While it’s unfortunate that Snedeker will be unable to continue building on a solid season, but hopefully he can get his health in check and can return to the PGA TOUR next season at full strength.
