Brooks Koepka to Miss 2-3 Months with Wrist Injury
After a PGA TOUR season that saw many stars miss most of the year with injury, we were hoping for a healthier 2018. That, unfortunately, has not been the case to start the season.
Last year’s U.S. Open Champion and a fast riser on the PGA TOUR, Brooks Koepka, will miss the at least 2-3 months with a wrist injury. Koepka originally felt discomfort in his wrist back at the Hero Challenge and then played injured through the TOC. After finishing last in that event, Koepka underwent a MRI on his wrist to reveal that he has a partially torn Extensor Carpi Ulnaris.
The timing of the injury comes at a terrible time for Koepka. As mentioned above, he is the reigning U.S. Open Champion (his first major championship victory), and he had won the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in November, vaulting him all the way up to no. 7 in the World Golf Rankings. Now, he will only fall down the list as he misses time.
Just got a press release that Brooks Koepka is out for the next 2+ months with a partially torn tendon in his wrist. He’s hoping to make it back for the Masters. Bummer.

Koepka is obviously not happy that he will have to miss so much to begin the season. “I am frustrated that I will now not be able to play my intended schedule,” Koepka said. “But I am confident in my doctors and in the treatment they have prescribed, and I look forward to teeing it up at the Masters. … I look forward to a quick and successful recovery.”
When I first saw the length of Koepka’s injury, it seemed like the target date for a return would be The Masters and it looks like that is Koepka’s official target tournament. Even if Koepka is able to be fully recovered by the time The Masters roll around in April, people will certainly have to question how sharp he will play. Without tuning up with the Florida and West Coast swing to prepare for the big tournament, who knows how prepared he will be.
While it is sad to see one of the PGA’s rising stars sidelined, it is good to see that Koepka’s injury won’t keep him out even longer. Hopefully, all will go well for him and he’ll be back for The Masters as planned.
