TRENDING: Brandel Chamblee Happy About Brooks Koepka Sticking It To Him
Leading up to the PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka had been locked into a feud with notorious fight picker Brandel Chamblee. While many words have been exchanged in their fight, Koepka found a better way to do his talking.
The whole issue started by Chamblee claiming that he isn’t sold on Koepka being a “great player” on the PGA TOUR. Obviously, Koepka’s resume refutes that claim from Chamblee but Koepka also hit back at Chamblee in media appearances to defend his reputation. But Koepka’s best response could be what he’s doing at Bethpage Black this weekend.
After the first round of the PGA Championship, Koepka is showing that he might be more than the great player that Chamblee doesn’t think he is. He fired off a ridiculous seven-under round of 63 that gave him the lead heading into Friday by one shot. And after watching Koepka catch fire, Chamblee was loving how Brooks was responding to his criticism.

“I’ve racked my brain since he putted out. Under the situation, playing with Tiger Woods at Bethpage Black, I couldn’t come up with a better round, I don’t think I’ve ever seen (one). It was incredible,” Chamblee said on Live From The PGA Championship. ” I’ve been flipped off a few times in my life – probably not as often as you’d think – but I felt like he was giving me the finger for 4 1/2 hours out there today, and I gotta tell you, I enjoyed it.”
As Chamblee mentioned in his quote, Koepka’s round is even more impressive considering who he was playing with. Koepka put on that show playing with Tiger Woods and fellow major champion Francesco Molinari. Playing with Tiger is guaranteed to provide extra pressure but Koepka’s performance made him the first person to lead a round playing with Woods in a major following Tiger winning the previous major.

I’m sure that Koepka is far more worried about winning the PGA Championship through his performance rather than winning Chamblee’s approval but he’ll probably take it. With 54 holes remaining, we’ll see if Koepka is able to keep up this torrid pace.
