BREAKING: Patrick Reed’s Caddie Suspended For Remainder Of Presidents Cup
In the world of Patrick Reed, it looks like things are only going from bad to worse at the Presidents Cup. After a lot of controversy and jeering already, Reed’s caddie, Kessler Karain couldn’t take it anymore.
It has been a big story at the Presidents Cup how fans at Royal Melbourne in Australia have been hammering Patrick Reed for his rules violation last week at the Hero World Challenge. It hasn’t helped that members of the International Team have egged on their supporters to continue going after Reed. It was bound to hit a breaking point and that seems to have been on Saturday morning here in the U.S.
It was reported that earlier in the morning Reed’s caddie, Kessler Karain, got into an altercation with a fan that has left him being removed from the remainder of the Presidents Cup proceedings. And Karain isn’t hiding after this incident either, as he’s talked to several media outlets since the event. And the theme of his argument is that his emotions simply boiled over after three days of heckling.
According to a PGA Tour release, Kessler Karain will not be allowed to caddie on Sunday for Patrick Reed at the Presidents Cup

“After hearing several fans in Australia for three days, some had taken it too far,” Karain said. “I had had enough.” Karain then explains how the fan yelled an expletive at the group. “I got off the cart and shoved him, said a couple things, probably a few expletives,” Karain said. “Security came and I got back in cart and left. … Unless his bones break like Mr. Glass, the most harm done was a little spilled beer, which I’m happy to reimburse him for.”
This had to be something that both Reed and Karain both expected coming into the event but it’s a shame to see it have such an effect on the two professionals. Reed has been awful so far on the course, losing all three of his four ball matches, which has caused Tiger Woods to bench him for the final group round. But when Reed returns for the individual matchups, early reports indicate his swing coach, Kevin Kirk, will step up as caddie.

Normally, the Presidents Cup would be a moment to remember for a long time but I think Reed wants to get it over with as soon as possible. As of now, the Presidents Cup is extremely tight and it could come down to one final match so be sure to check in and see if the U.S. can overcome these distractions to take home another trophy.
