RUMORS: Possible Dates Surface for Cancelled PGA TOUR Events
We know it’s tough to believe anything on the internet these days, but I still wanted to report what was rumored as it could be a possibility. And, even more importantly, a possibility of hope!
In a detailed report from Golfweek Magazine, a joint statement from the governing bodies is pending with new dates set for cancelled PGA TOUR events. Rumor has it, they are still waiting on the R&A about the Open before making a formal announcement. Here is what you can expect:
The PGA Championship: August 6th-9th at TPC Harding Park, the original venue for the event which was originally scheduled for next month.
The Open Championship: The R&A is still deciding whether or not to cancel it or postpone it. If they move to postpone, it is possible it can be played September 17th-20th at Royal St. George as originally planned.
The Ryder Cup: So far, nothing changed here. The event is still scheduled for Sept 25th-27th at Whistling Straits.
The US Open: So far this has been postponed, but if the Open Championship is cancelled, the US Open will resume at Winged Foot on that date (Sept 17-20). If the Open doesn’t cancel, the US Open could move too late fall at a warmer venue like Torrey Pines or Pebble Beach. Really hoping on Winged Foot, as that one is in my backyard!
The Masters: Rumor has it this could be played at Augusta Nov 12-15th.
Sounds like a lot, but it’s reality. Stay tuned for any final announcements with more concrete information.
