For the first time since World War II the Open Championship has been cancelled. Following the lead of Tennis who canceled Wimbledon in the last 24 hours, the 2020 Open will not happen this year. Why cancel the event instead of postponing it like the Masters or other PGA events? The reason may come down to money.

According to a report by ESPN’s Bob Harig and Golf Digest, the R & A can collect the insurance on the event if they cancel by a certain time. Maybe that’s the reason or maybe it has to do with safety but it sucks either way.

I’m not an expert on the pandemic in ANY way but I was hoping that we (the world) would be ahead of this by this summer. With the Open not scheduled for July 16th -19th I was hoping that this would be one major that goes on as planned. That’s not the case anymore.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
