GOLFZON Hosting a Virtual LPGA Tournament
We’re living in crazy times. While live sports are very slowly making their return, with events like the TaylorMade Driving Relief and the more recent The Match: Champions for Charity, it may be a while before we see full-fledged tournaments.
Indeed, the USGA has already announced that the 2020 U.S. Open, currently scheduled September 17th and 20th, that all local qualifier events have been cancelled, and that eligibility to compete in the 2020 U.S. Open will be strictly limited to exemptions, such as major winners from the last 5 years.

Fortunately, GOLFZON, the manufacturer of, arguably, the most realistic golf simulator on the market, is doing what it can to help bring back live, competitive sports.
On Monday, May 25th, GOLFZON hosted The GOLFZON LPGA Match Play Challenge: a virtual 2-v-2 match featuring LPGA stars Inbee Park, So Yeon Ryu, Pernilla Lindberg and Lydia Ko.
And here’s the best part: to help observe social distancing requirements and safely hold the event, Park and Ryu will be playing, as a team, on a GOLFZON simulator in Korea against Lindberg and Ko, who will be competing together at the World Golf Hall of Fame (St. Augustine, FL), almost 7,500 miles away.
The best part of this is that, unlike mainstream simulator options, GOLFZON’s proprietary Network Play mode will allow Park, Ryu, Lindberg and Ko to play simultaneously, in real-time, on the same hole from tee to green and green to cup, as they will be putting everything out and conforming to the rules of golf.
MIND-BLOWING Golf Simulator at ZSTRICT
In this week’s vlog we’re taking you along on a recent trip to ZSTRICT at Chelsea Piers, CT. Their GOLFZON simulator tech blew our minds!
As Mike & Frank demonstrated while visiting ZSTRICT at Chelsea Piers (CT), the GOLFZON simulator hitting mat features 3 different playing surfaces—bunker, rough and fairway—that mirror the type of terrain you will encounter on a real course. And if that wasn’t enough, the GOLFZON further replicates the real golfing experience with a hitting platform that hydraulically moves around eight directional pivots to match the real-life terrain features, such as downhill, side hill and uphill.
“While most golf tours around the world are not being held due to COVID-19, I am happy that these LPGA Tour champions will be able to hold virtual tournaments indoor on golf simulators, specifically with GOLFZON’s global technological prowess connecting them across 13 hours of time difference in real-time,” said Kang Soo Park, CEO of GOLFZON. “I hope this ‘no-contact’ golf game will bring hope and comfort to golf fans around the world with entertainment.”
With respect to the competition, the game format is a 36-hole match that will be played in two 18-hole rounds: Round 1 is a foursome match play, while Round 2 is a four-ball match play.
The winning team will be awarded $10,000 in prize money to donate to the charity to fight against COVID-19 in their names. There will be no playoffs, and if a match ends in a draw, the prize will be donated to charity on behalf of all four names.
If you’re interested in watching GOLFZON LPGA Match Play Challenge and watching some of the LPGA’s top athletes compete, the match will air live on GOLFZON’s official YouTube channel and Naver TV Live. If you happen to miss it while celebrating Memorial Day with your friends and family, the match will also be aired on a to-be-determined date in June on the Golf Channel in the United States, as well as on JTBC GOLF and Screen GOLFZON channels in Korea.
