We are just days away from the first PGA Tour action since the Thursday round of THE PLAYERS Championship back on March 12th. COVID-19 put a complete halt on everything, including all professional sports.

We have been craving some sort of sporting event for months, and that showed during the playing of The Match between Tiger, Phil, Brady, and Peyton. The Match II was the most watched round of golf ever, bringing in an average of 5.8 million viewers across the 3 channels broadcasting the event.

Over the last few weeks, PGA Tour pros have been returning to practice and showcasing their range sessions on Instagram…

When the Tour finally returns next week, the schedule is going to look completely different. Some events have been cancelled, but many have been moved to later dates. The Charles Schwab Challenge, normally a smaller event on Tour, will play host to the first event back since March.

15 of the world’s top 20 players will be teeing it up at Colonial next week, making it the most stacked field in the event’s history. Rory and JT will be making their first start at Colonial since being on Tour, while Brooks Koepka makes his second and Jon Rahm makes his fourth.

Some schedule highlights include…

  • The Travelers Championship: Staying at its originally dates of June 25th-28th
  • The Memorial Tournament: Originally June 4th-7th, now scheduled for July 16th-19th
  • WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational: Originally July 2nd-5th, now scheduled for July 30th-August 2nd
  • Tour Championship: Originally August 27th-30th, now scheduled for September 4th-7th

In regards to Majors, we should have played the Masters and PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park already. The Masters has been moved to November, while August 6th will be the first round at Harding Park. The Open has been cancelled all together, which is justified with all the international travel that would be needed to put on the event. And finally the US Open, which is scheduled to be held at Winged Foot, will take place from the 17th-20th of September.

Golf fans have been starving for live golf, and next week will be the first course. The best players on the planet return to TV in just a few days, and we couldn’t be more ready.

Hope everyone is staying safe!

I grew up in southern New Hampshire, where I first fell in love with the game of golf. I started by just going out and messing around with my buddies and focusing purely on having a good time! I never took golf seriously until I moved down to Tampa, FL to attend the University of South Florida. Go Bulls! At the start of my junior year I got a job working as a cart boy at a local private country club. This is when I started to focus on golf becoming my career. During the fall of my senior year, I turned from a 14 handicap, to a 2. I passed the PAT scoring test my first try and haven't looked back.
