BREAKING: adidas Golf Masters Special Edition Crossknit DPR “Low Am”
The 2020 Masters is merely days away (God Bless), and while the Par 3 Contest that traditionally kicks off the festivities will not take place this year, fortunately one of Augusta’s other treats will be honored: the Low Amateur.
Since 1962, the Masters has awarded the Silver Cup to the lowest-scoring amateur to make the cut. Recipients of the award have included Cary Middlecoff, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Sergio García, among many others.
But if that wasn’t enough, since 1969, 137 amateur players have called the Crow’s Nest—a 30 by 40 foot room that includes 4 barrack-styled bedrooms—home during Masters week, located merely steps from the first tee.

So to help honor the small group of amateurs who’ve earned an invite to compete at the 2002 Masters and an opportunity to join the history books as the tournament’s Low Amateur, adidas Golf is announcing the release of the limited edition Crossknit DPR “Low Am”, available worldwide on November 9th.

Designed on the Crossknit DPR silhouette, the limited edition features understated characteristics inspired by the edifice and surroundings on-site that only a select few get to experience. A rich green sockliner with “LOW AM” branding gives a nod to the unique carpet found throughout the amateur’s lodging for the week. A specialty tab is included on the tongue meant to represent the familiar windowpanes that some of the greatest players in history have looked through before beginning their journeys as professionals.

In the follow through of the swing, people will also notice the words “LOW” and “AM” embedded underneath the fish-scale Traxion outsole of the left and right foot, respectively. To bring it all together, the special green, white and gray colorway simply transports all who wear the shoe to a place where time has seemingly stopped and not a blade of grass is out of place.

“Whenever we do footwear like this, we always look for the subtle storylines that make a tournament special,” said Masun Denison, global director of footwear, adidas Golf. “This year, we thought it would be fitting to celebrate the unique experience the small group of amateurs get when they head to Augusta and sleep steps from the first tee, hoping to hang on until Sunday so that they can earn the right to be called the Low Amateur and have a chair next to that year’s champion.”
The Crossknit DPR is built on the extremely comfortable Ultraboost running midsole in a textile upper with supportive FORGEGRAME technology to help keep golfers stable throughout their swing. Unique to this limited edition, the footwear comes in a special box and includes an exclusive dust bag to commemorate the moment.
In addition to the Crossknit DPR “Low Am”, but exclusive to the U.S. and sold separately, adidas Golf is also offering a classic white bucket hat emblazoned with a one-of-a-kind green and yellow logo that follows the low amateur theme.

While the bucket hat is available today, the Crossknit DPR “Low Am” will be available worldwide in limited quantities on adidas.com and the adidas app beginning Monday, November 9th at the following times:
