EQUIPMENT: Titleist Releases Ultra-Low Spin TSi4 Driver
If you’re a high speed player or are fighting some swing moves, such as an out-to-in swing path or add too much loft at impact, then spin is the enemy. And as much as you’d like for a low spin shaft to be the solution, the largest impact on ball flight will always be the head.

The Titleist TSi4 looks to bring aggressive spin reduction to the already potent TSi driver lineup by positioning the Center of Gravity (CG) as low as possible, making it TSi driver with not only the lowest CG but also the most forward. That combination allows the TSi4 to deliver less dynamic loft and less spin at impact to deliver on that low spin promise. A higher Moment of Inertia (MOI) in the TSi4 also contributes to a higher launch, overall trajectory, and produces more distance for that target player.
“The TSi4 fulfills the ultra-low spin product within our TSi lineup,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Titleist Metalwood Development. “For those players that need aggressive spin reduction to improve their distance, we now have that product in the TSi lineup.”

The TSi4 is also a 430cc head (as opposed to the 460cc found in the TSi2 and TSi3), with a very classic, small pear-shaped profile and improved sound and feel, the TSi4 is also the most workable of all TSi drivers.
“In general, high spin comes from players that either come over the top, have a steep attack angle, or are adding significant loft at impact,” said Luttrell. “So, the TSi4 is not strictly reserved towards high speed players, but absolutely dedicated towards all golfers who require spin reduction in order to improve their distance by producing a longer, more piercing ball flight.”
Much like the TSi2 and TSi3, the TSi4 is capable of delivering high ball speed with the help of the new ATI 425 Aerospace Titanium face construction that is exclusive to Titleist’s TSi driver family. ATI 425 Aerospace Titanium is a unique material that delivers superior strength, elasticity and durability versus the conventional titanium alloys used in golf. The exceptional ductility of ATI 425 (30% greater than 6-4 Titanium) allowed engineers to produce Titleist’s fastest driver face, while maintaining the durability properties required for consistent maximum performance.

To truly appreciate how strong ATI 425 is, it was initially developed for ballistic armor applications and has since been used in many aerospace and commercial aircraft solutions, including jet engines and NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander. But Titleist is the only golf company using it.
In addition to drastically reducing spin, the TSi4 can also be further dialed in with the help of Titleist’s patented SureFit hosel with 16 independent loft/lie settings, plus headweight adjustability for the forward sole weight (in 2-gram increments, ranging from -4g to 4g) to create a more consistent and optimized ball flight through precision fitting.
The Titleist TSi4 is available NOW, and is available in 8.0°, 9.0° and 10.0° heads for right handed golfers, and 9.0° for left handed golfers. The standard shafts—HZRDUS Smoke Yellow 60 and TENSEI AV White RAW 65—are both low launch, low spin design, but Titleist offers a variety of up-charge shafts from Graphite Design, Fujikura, and OBAN, among many others.
