A Brief History of the Brooks Koepka vs. Bryson DeChambeau Feud

As most of you can guess, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka didn’t just learn this week that they don’t like each other, it’s been going on for quite a while.

Naturally, Koepka’s interview that went viral this week begs the question; why don’t the two like each other?

To start, we’ll look back at 2019, when Koepka expressed his frustrations over DeChambuea’s slow play.

Apparently, DeChambeau had been criticized by multiple players, not just Koepka. However, it was Koepka who confronted DeChambeau about it.

Following the slow play accusations, both parties seemed to make up. They joined Out of Bounds on SiriusXM, where they hashed out the whole ordeal. DeChambeau admitted to being slow, and promised to work on it.

In the same interview, when it was mentioned that people felt the two were about to throw hands at any moment, DeChambeau surprisingly admitted that if the two were to get into a scuffle, that Koepka, not himself, would win. Interesting way to try and make amends, I guess.

However, the rest of the story didn’t not end with Koepka and DeChambeau becoming best buds for life. Instead, they found more and more reasons to beef and go at each other.

The next time we hear about the pair, we have DeChambeau, who’s live streaming a video game, poking fun at Koepka’s body. Koepka had appeared on the Body Issue, and DeChambeau was quick to point out the lack of visible abdominal muscles.

It’s at this point that Koepka responded with one of the more comical, creative, and witty tweets I’ve ever seen.

Now, at this point you’re probably wondering, is there anything these two won’t fight about? Well, to be frank…nope. Nothing. Even little innocent insects seems to stir the pot between the two.

Let me explain.

Probably one of the more known displays of pettiness between the two came at the 2020 St Jude Classic, after DeChambeau sought relief after his ball landed near an ant hill. Next thing you know, Koepka is sarcastically mentioning that he has ants next to his ball, the following day.

Seriously guys, ants?

And that brings us to the present day. The interview. The remarks about the putting line, the metal cleats.

Though the video has since been taken down as the PGA combed through social media, the sentiment still remains; the bromance between Koepka and DeChambeau is very much alive.

Can we call it that? I mean, I feel like at this point they’re that couple that won’t ever stop finding things to bicker about.

Regardless, it’s provided a context to championship golf that people desperately want to see. Here’s to future pairings between the two, and endless entertainment for all of us.
