After an action packed final day in Doral, it is Adam Scott who has claimed the first WGC of the season with a one shot victory over Bubba Watson.

The Australian managed to claw back a victory after trailing three shots behind leader Rory McIlroy at the start of the day, to claim his second World Golfing Championships title at the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.

Scott made two double-bogey’s on his first five holes resulting in him trailing to McIlroy by six, but made a remarkable comeback by holing six birdies out of nine holes, and also making crucial par saves on the 16th and 18th – after his final tee shot ended up in a bunker on the 1st.

With his WGC-Cadillac Championship victory in the bag, this means Adam has claimed back-to-back wins against some of the best fields in golf – showing he has the drive and desire to be amongst the top in the game.

Talking to Sky Sports, he said: “I can’t believe I’ve won back to back wins and to win a WGC is huge.

“You can give me six-footers all day to win a tournament – I’ve been working hard on my putting and this was a great way to test myself, a six footer to win a World golf event.”

“Somehow I need to bottle this form up and keep it for another four or five weeks through the masters and that will be amazing to get myself into contention there and in with a chance.”

If the Australian continues and takes his form onto Augusta, it is looking like he will be the one to beat, and will be in contention to claim his second green jacket.

Englishman Danny Willet ended the day at ten under after a great closing round of 69, with his chance of victory disappearing after his final tee shot found the water.

The Race to Dubai Champion finished also at ten under par, after an unfortunate round of 74 resulted in him loosing his advantageous lead and falling short of another victory, similar to Mickelson who came up a little shy of the winner finishing another shot behind.

Although all eyes were focused on the golfing world’s top three at the beginning of this week, it shows that Adam Scott is not one to forget and will be a name to watch out for in the upcoming majors.
