One of the most important clubs in your bag is ironically the only club you may not ever have to replace. Indeed, putting accounts for nearly 40% of your score, but more than 90% have never been fit for a flatstick.

So to help golfers avoid unnecessary three putts, the nation’s #1 club fitter has decided to designate September “Putter Fitting Month.”

Between September 1st and 30th, 2020, all 74 Club Champion locations will waive the putter fitting fee, valued at $100, for any golfer who purchases a new putter.

“We see golfers come in all the time wanting more distance or looking to increase fairways hit, but somehow ignore their putter,” says Nick Sherburne, Master Fitter and Club Champion founder. “Putting may not be as sexy as bombing it off the tee, but your putter is arguably the most important club in the bag if you’re looking to truly play better golf and lower your scores.”

So how does it work? With their unrivaled number of putters (Scotty Cameron, TaylorMade, PING, Evnroll, SeeMore, Cleveland, Bettinardi, PXG, Toulon, Mizuno, Edel, Odyssey, Sacks Parente), shaft (Breakthrough Golf Technology’s Stability Shaft, KBS, LAGP) and grip options, alongside their Science and Motion (SAM) PuttLab technology, Club Champion will help match you with a putter ideal for your stroke.

The approach is unbiased; no specific brand is promoted.

To complement their expansive equipment knowledge and options, Club Champion master fitters are also trained to analyze SAM PuttLab metrics to precisely break down what’s going on with your existing putter. Key criteria about your stroke—club path, face angle at impact, loft, lie angle, consistencies of rotation—are considered when seeking out a new putter. Data from the SAM PuttLab helps fitters address those things, as well as other elements like head style, weight, putter length, face balancing and even toe-hang. And just like a driver, iron or wedge fitting, your Club Champion fitter will explain what areas need to be changed with a new putter or simply adjusted on your current putter.

This was the putter fitting that Frank and Mike went through years back:

Should You Get a Custom Putter Fitting? [Spoiler: YES!]

No Description

High handicappers often see the best results from a custom fitting, but Tour players and industry veterans are familiar with Club Champion’s services as well. After his putter fitting, golf writer Ed Travis wrote, “Happily, I can report my putting has improved. Essentially three-putts are a thing of the past and there’s a lot more confidence on those in the throw-up zone. A good way to say it is, match the putter to your stroke — don’t change your stroke to match the putter.”

So if you’re sick of putting like Phil Mickelson at Shinnecock, make sure to schedule a putter fitting with your local Club Champion this month to help save your 2020 handicap.
