Andy Sullivan in Strong Position to Claim the Portugal Masters
Englishman Andy Sullivan is sitting comfortably at the top in the Portugal Masters with a five shot lead going into the final round tomorrow.
The on-form golfer stormed ahead of the pack after two rounds of 64, alongside today’s 67, leaving him at the top of the leaderboard with a total of 18 under par.
Sullivan’s score stands him in good stead for tomorrow, as if his form continues, the world ranked 66 will be set to claim his third European Tour title of the season.
Although he has a safety cushion of five shots ahead of Spaniard Eduardo De La Riva in second position, the tournament is far from over, as many of his competitors are starting to catch up.
De La Riva, who has played three impressive rounds in Vilamoura this week, is sure to be applying the pressure on Sullivan tomorrow, as well as Chris Wood, who rocketed up the leaderboard today after a round of 65.
Nicolas Colsaerts, who shared top spot with Sullivan after round one, could still be a threat to the Englishman, as the big-hitting-Belgian seems to be playing comfortably this week, and is looking to claim the Portugal Masters title after shyly missing out on it last year.
Andy Sullivan will be teeing off alongside Eduardo De La Riva and fellow Englishman Chris Wood tomorrow, so let’s see if he can take advantage of his position tomorrow to secure his third European Tour title.
