BombTech Golf Grenade Driver Review
BombTech’s Grenade driver has certainly been generating quite a bit of online buzz lately, so when they approached us with the chance to test one out naturally we jumped at the opportunity.
If you’re a regular listener of The Golf Podcast you probably know we’re big fans of small, niche golf equipment manufacturers. For many of these unique brands you can almost feel the blood, sweat, and tears a small, dedicated group of individuals has put into the product—and that couldn’t be more true when speaking of the BombTech brand.

First a Little Background…
BombTech Golf is headed by a golf addict turned equipment mad scientist who goes simply by the name “Sully.” Frustrated with his equipment failing him one too many times, Sully decided to put his money where his mouth is and jump-start his own custom club making business.
But perhaps Sully’s greatest (and smartest) decision as a new entrepreneur was to reach out to the local engineering department at The University of Vermont for the technical assistance that would eventually set his new brand apart.
The result of the collaboration was a driver with cutting edge technological and aesthetic design.

Look, Feel, and Performance
The good news is that the BombTech Grenade Driver isn’t just another pretty face with a small town background and big city dreams. A couple of swings with this green monster and you’ll question why you ever dropped $499 on that “big name” driver.
Speaking of price, at first it may be a bit hard to believe that the Grenade driver can be had for only $299, but as Sully explains, the company is able to cut costs by selling directly to customers (no retail sales) and then passing those savings directly on to customers.
Regardless, of its reasonable price, every aspect of the Grenade screams of top quality.
Here’s Frank, host of The Golf Podcast, on the range to tell us more about the club:

Just a few of the highlights Frank mentions in the video include the Grenade driver’s excellent build quality and perhaps most importantly its controlled distance off the tee. Remember, distance means nothing if you’re driving the ball 100 yards into the woods. That said, the BombTech Grenade’s forgiveness is enough to help even the least consistent ball strikers see their fare share of fairways.

Where to Get it
Easily the biggest complaint we have about the Grenade driver is its absence from retail locations—after all, it’s quite a valid request to want to swing the club before shelling out a few hundred bucks on a new driver. To help mitigate this issue, BombTech offers a 60 day “hassle free” return policy that allows you to play the club for a few weeks and return it if you’re not satisfied with its performance.
Placing an order is as simple as either visiting the BombTech website or picking up the phone and speaking with them directly. Every club they make is custom built to order and assembled here in the U.S.A.
When ordering your driver BombTech will ask you to specify your loft, as well as shaft flex and length. If you’re unsure which best suits your game we highly recommend calling and speaking with them directly for assistance. For the purpose of this review it’s worth noting that we tested a 10.5 degree with a stiff flex shaft.
The BombTech Grenade driver is currently available for $299.00 when ordered on BombTechGolf.com.
