Brandel Chamblee’s Constant Attack on LIV Golfers Continues

Brandel Chamblee has not shied away from his distaste for LIV Golfers at any juncture. No matter who they are, what they’ve accomplished, or where they’ve been, he’s been prone to talk about how he feels about them and how most of them are overrated or corrupt.

Chamblee did not change his tune when speaking of Talor Gooch or Joaquin Niemann earlier today, stating that they are both not “as good as they pretend” while bringing past Major Championship finishes in as proof.

In Niemann’s case, Chamblee admitted he’s a good golfer but that many people tend to give him more credit than he’s worth (via Bunkered):

“..Niemann, yeah, he’s a good player, but let’s not pretend that he’s as good as they pretend he is. He’s played in 22 majors and never even finished in the top 15. Seven missed cuts.”

For what it’s worth, Niemann’s best finish in a Major is the 16th place finish at the 2023 Masters. Chamblee’s best career finish was 18th at the 1999 Masters. He never made the cut at the PGA Championship in four tries, and finished T44 and T62 at the 2001 U.S. Open and Open Championship, respectively.

As for Talor Gooch, who is a big name on LIV Golf as he dominated two seasons ago, Chamblee didn’t hold back:

“They keep acting like he’s the next Rory McIlroy, the same way they were talking about Talor Gooch last year, who, by the way, played in three majors, missed two cuts, and finished 34th in the other (in 2023), so turns out he’s not as good as they said he was.”

Chamblee’s personal vendetta against LIV Golf is surely keeping him talking, but as a commentator who has played the game, he has been outshined by both of these golfers when comparing careers.

Gooch also has better finishes in three of the four Majors than Chamblee has.
