BREAKING: Garmin Teases New Launch Monitor
Garmin is most well known for its precise GPS devices, but over the past few years, they’ve dipped their toe into the golf simulator marketplace. Indeed, in 2019, Garmin released the G80 handheld GPS, which included a launch monitor function that was perfect for pre-round range warmups.

In 2021, Garmin went even further into the launch monitor marketplace when it debuted the R10, arguably the most portable launch monitor that can be used indoors and outdoors.
However, it seems that Garmin is looking to dive even deeper into the consumer launch monitor marketplace with a new device.

Just a few hours ago, Garmin posted a video on its Garmin Golf Instagram account. The video zooms in from behind a device—featuring “GARMIN” embossed on the backside—that is positioned just in front of the golfer, who appears to be addressing a golf ball with his driver.
I believe that this new device signals that Garmin has seen enough success from the R10, in addition to considerable growth in the consumer marketplace (specifically in the sub-$5,000 segment), that it finally decided to develop and release an updated and (potentially) higher-power device that could compete with, among others, the Rapsodo MLM2PRO, SkyTrak+, Bushnell Launch Pro, FlightScope Mevo+ and Golfzon WAVE.
The post does not mention a formal announcement date; instead, it merely states, “See you soon. Rain or shine.”
So, while we wait for the official announcement, there is one thing that is certain—newer technologies and increased competition will continue to help make the home simulator more attainable for all golfers.
