Augusta National has confirmed that Phil Mickelson will NOT be competing in the 2022 Masters. What was likely a covert attempt to make the change to the “Players” list on the Masters website was promptly caught when Phil’s name was removed absent any official announcement or statement from Phil or the Masters.

Notably, this will be only the second time Phil has missed the Masters since 1991 when he first teed it up at Augusta National.

In the absence of an official statement, many will wonder whether the Masters are taking a page from Jay Monahan’s playbook at asking Lefty to sit this one out following his toxic comments that have caused numerous sponsors, including KPMG and Callaway, to put some distance between themselves and the reigning PGA Champion.
