BREAKING: Rory McIlroy Throws Shade at LIV Golf Players

Rory McIlroy is mastering the press conference as well as the game of golf.

He was asked what he thinks his chances are this week, as well as if he was faced with a LIV Golfer down the stretch on Sunday, and whether that would provide extra incentive.

Just like Rory himself, his response was genuine, candid, and slightly tongue-in-cheek.

“I’ll be trying to win a golf tournament regardless. They are going to be pretty tired on Sunday; it will be the fourth day.”

Rory continues to throw heavy shade at the LIV defectors, because he knows his golf can do the talking when it comes down to it. However, with former Ryder Cup teammates Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood in the field this week, it will be interesting to see how they feel being on the receiving end of the jibes.

The criticism around the 54 hole format has been floated around some of the big names in golf recently, Gary Player, Sir Nick Faldo and Freddie Couples to name a few.

Rory has had his own struggles on Sundays in the past, so has perhaps opened himself up to some blowback here. All we can do is wait to see what unfolds this week at the BMW.
