In 2018, the golf world was extremely excited and so many people tuned in to watch Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods compete in the charity event that was dubbed “The Match.” And after all of the success, The Match is coming back with some new faces.

The event was just a big charity match where Lefty and Tiger competed for a $9 million purse that Phil ended up taking home. The two teed it up again back in May, adding Peyton Manning and Tom Brady into the fold. This time, however, Tiger won’t be back to participate in the event and Brady will be a one and done competitor since he’s playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL.

With the loss of Brady and Tiger though, there are now two new faces joining the fun. The latest version of The Match is going to feature a group match. On one team, you’ll have Mickelson returning to play with notoriously bad golfer Charles Barkley. Those two will be facing Peyton Manning, making his second appearance, teamed up with Stephen Curry, who’s appeared on smaller tours when his basketball schedule permits.

As the only player to participate in all three of these events, Mickelson is super hyped to be back but maybe not too confident in his partner. “While we may need a handicap for Chuck, I’m looking forward to playing with Peyton and Stephen and to help raise money for another important cause,” Mickelson said in a statement. “It’s also going to give fans and viewers an up-close look at Stone Canyon Golf Club, a place that I’m extremely proud of and excited to show how special it is.”

As Mickelson noted in his statement, The Match is set to be played at the Stone Canyon Golf Club in Arizona. It’s set to tee off on Black Friday around 3:00 p.m. ET and be televised on TNT. And just like the previous matches, the proceeds that the event draws will go to another great cause, helping to fund historically Black colleges and universities in the U.S.

With this latest installment of The Match now set, it looks like November will be full of big-time golf events since, as this will take place just weeks after The Masters. And I’m sure everyone will be excited to see if Mickelson will be able to carry Barkley to a victory in yet another high profile match. Stay tuned for more updates as the event gets closer.
