Brooks Koepka Snubbed Tiger’s Practice Round Request

Tiger hasn’t played a single round since the U.S. Open, at least professionally, and is heading into Royal Portrush blind, just like many others with The Open being played there for just the second time ever. But his overtures seem to be getting ignored.

Tiger has reportedly reached out to Brooks Koepka, asking him to tag along for a practice round before the tournament kicked off but Brooks has given Woods the silent treatment.

Tiger is so interested in playing with Koepka because Brooks has a secret weapon this week, his caddie Ricky Elliott. Elliott is from Portrush and used to be an employee at the course so he might know what players are facing more than anyone else this week.

Talking about his caddie’s experience, Koepka seemed ready to do whatever he says. “Every hole I just step up on: ‘You tell me what to do. You’ve played it more than anybody,’” Koepka said. “So I just let him figure it out. He knows his spots to miss it, the spots to come in from. I’ll definitely have a little bit more confidence having him on the bag this week, knowing this golf course so well.”

Even without the insight that Koepka has, Woods is still slated as one of the favorites in the tournament. And even if he struggles to start off, I wouldn’t bet on Tiger fading away once the weekend approaches.
