Dustin Johnson Jumps in the Official World Golf Rankings
I’d say it is about time. For a while, Dustin Johnson has been ranked 6th in the Official World Golf Rankings behind Day, Spieth, McIlroy, Watson, and Fowler. However after an extremely exciting and entertaining win at the 2016 U.S. Open, Johnson has been placed in the top three.
Johnson has arguably had the best season of any player on Tour. Though this past week was his first win out of the 14 events he has participated in, he has made every cut and finished in the top 10 in nine of those 14 events. DJ also has finished in top 5 seven times this season, including 4th at this year’s past Masters and now first at the U.S. Open. Like I said before, he has arguably had the best season of any player out on tour in 2016.
I am glad to see that DJ is sitting at third in the rankings, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the future. He is one of the few players to ever win in their first nine seasons on tour. Can this big hitter become the world number one? I believe so…
