Just For Fun
European Tour Players Prank Fans with Fake Lessons
In a little late-season fun, some European Tour players decided to prank some of their fans yesterday.
A YouTube video titled “bad coaching” features some of the best golfers in Europe, Padraig Harrington, Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, and Ian Poulter each taking turns giving players terrible advice to see if they would follow it.
Each player has their own ridiculous advice to give and they are all seen in the video, but the highlights are really great. For example, Ian Poulter convinces a woman that she needs to follow through by releasing the club into the middle of the fairway after her swing. And Martin Kaymer convinces a poor guy that he needs to stretch his eyes and fingertips at the same exact time.
Bad Coaching – European Tour stars prank fans
European Tour Originals presents Bad Coaching. Ryder Cup stars Ian Poulter, Martin Kaymer, Padraig Harrington, and Lee Westwood prank real fans by giving the worst golf lessons they possibly can, with hilarious, ridiculous results. Ever dreamed of having a one-on-one lesson with a golf legend?
It had to be especially hard to take Padraig Harrington as a joke, however, because he has done some of the craziest things to his technique over the years. In fact, Harrington even wore a straight jacket like shirt that is supposed to make sure your body becomes adept to the proper form you need to hit your best shot. And Harrington claimed that the crazy looking shirt worked!
For fans wondering how long the gag was pulled, the pros didn’t leave fans believing that these stupid tricks they came up with actually helped their golf game. At the end of the video, each golfer reveals the inside joke to their respective fans and everyone is able to have a good laugh about it. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if some people at home actually tried out the ideas that these guys all joked about.
Since golf is such a serious sport, it’s good to see that some players are able to find some humor in the game. Hopefully, the joke doesn’t get taken seriously by desperate fans and golfers around the country don’t start getting hit by drivers flying into the fairway!
